“Perhaps the most important novelty of our Constitution is Article IV, which establishes a seven member adjudicative panel appointed by the trustees but wholly independent from the board. This will be the university’s supreme court, to which students and employees can submit petitions if they believe their constitutionally enshrined rights are being violated.” —Founding Trustee Niall Ferguson on the UATX Constitution

The Adjudicative Panel may choose to hear any case in which an action taken by an employee or student of UATX is alleged by another employee or student to violate its Constitution. Actions include all rules and regulations issued by the Deans and other officers of UATX, as well as rulings of the Academic Standards and Disciplinary Councils.

When the Panel elects to hear a case, three Panelists shall review the case within sixty days from submission of all evidence and shall convene in person, locally or remotely, before rendering a decision. The Panel shall select one person in the majority to draft the final opinion and that opinion shall be binding. The Panel may recommend disciplinary action to the Disciplinary Council in cases where an unconstitutional action is found to have taken place, but the ultimate decisions on any sanctions or punishments shall be taken by the Disciplinary Council.

Our Principles

UATX prepares thoughtful and ethical innovators, builders, leaders, public servants and citizens through open inquiry and civil discourse. Our commitment to the pursuit of truth arises from our confidence that the nature of reality can be discerned, albeit incompletely, by those who seek to understand it, and from our belief that the quest to know, though unending, is an ennobling, liberating, and productive endeavor.
