DEADLINES

ADMISSION FOR 2026-27

Applicants will receive an admissions decision within 14 business days of UATX receiving both a completed application and a verified test score. (Note: It may take 5–10 business days after you submit your verified test score for UATX to receive it.)

The enrollment deposit deadline is May 1, 2026.

Limited full-tuition Founders Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to all deposited students who meet eligibility requirements. Apply early for the best chance at a scholarship.

The final deadline to apply for Fall 2026 enrollment is August 1, 2026.

ROLLING ADMISSIONS FOR MID-YEAR ENTRANTS

Although most high school–aged applicants prefer to enroll in the fall, a limited number of exceptional students may be admitted at the start of D-Term, Winter Term, Spring Term, or J-Term, joining the freshman class already in progress. These students may be graduating high school early, leaving their current college, or returning from a gap semester or gap year.

Key Points for Mid-Year Entrants
  • First-Year Curriculum: All freshmen must complete the core curriculum. Mid-year entrants join the freshman class already in progress and complete any missed Term 1, Term 2, and/or Term 3 requirements in their sophomore year.
  • Cohort Information: Students enter directly into the existing freshman class and advance with their peers, completing the courses required of all freshmen at a later date.
  • Orientation & Community: Students meet with the Associate Provost and University Dean for a brief “crash course” in UATX life and may participate in fall orientation events and future convocations.
  • Housing: Mid-year entrants are eligible for UATX housing, prioritized first with their class year (if space is available), then with upperclassmen. Limited off-campus exceptions may be approved, but UATX generally requires all students to live in housing for two full years (or six full terms).
  • Costs & Financial Aid: Housing and other fees are generally prorated according to the mid-year start date. Mid-year entrants are generally eligible for the Founder’s Scholarship and also eligible to apply for aid, subject to availability (typically aid is committed at the end of each year and so awards over and above the Founder’s Scholarship may not be available). Awards may be prorated for partial-year enrollment. See our website for our current financial aid policies.

Note: Because of the unique academic and community structure at UATX, mid-year starts require flexibility and careful planning. Students considering this option should reach out to admissions@uaustin.org to ensure careful coordination with admissions, advising, and the registrar for the smoothest entrance.

Rolling Admissions for Mid-Year Entrants: Frequently Asked Questions

If I start mid-year, am I still considered a freshman?

Yes. Mid-year entrants are considered first-year students for all purposes of enrollment, advising, and financial aid.

Is there an orientation for mid-year entrants?

There is no dedicated mid-year orientation or convocation. However, mid-year entrants receive a short onboarding session upon arrival and are invited to participate in some of the orientation programs the following fall (optional but recommended).

Am I eligible for financial aid?

Yes. Mid-year entrants may apply for aid under the prevailing financial aid policies. Funding is limited, distributed on a first-come basis to deposited students, and may be prorated for partial-year enrollment.

Will starting mid-year affect my graduation timeline?

Some required courses (such as STEM labs, languages, or great books seminars) may only be offered once per year. Advisors and faculty will help mid-year entrants plan carefully to remain on track for on-time graduation.

What are D-Term and J-Term? How will joining different terms affect my onboarding process?

D-Term and J-Term are our intensive terms in which half or full classes are taught seminars that meet daily or multiple times a week.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST:

1. Submit materials

All applicants must submit standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, or CLT). Applications may be submitted without scores, but they will not be considered complete until an official test score is received. Verified scores must come directly from the testing agency and should be sent immediately after submitting the application to ensure timely review.

  • SAT Code: 9190 (Essay section not considered)
  • ACT Code: 8137 (Writing section not considered)
  • CLT Code: Select “University of Austin” in your CLT account
  • Ensure scores are received as soon as possible after application submission. Admissions decisions may be delayed or withheld until verified scores are received.

If you scored SAT ≤ 1450, ACT ≤ 32, CLT ≤ 104, we encourage you to submit exceptional AP scores (4/5) or IB scores (5/6/7). If you are applying for Fall 2025 regular admission, list up to three verifiable achievements, each in a single sentence. No essays, extracurriculars, or GPAs are considered.

Score Review Policies:

  • We consider SAT, ACT, and CLT scores equally.
  • We superscore: we consider the highest section scores across multiple test sittings.
  • Include all test attempts; we will use the highest verified scores.
  • Essay or writing components of standardized tests are not considered in the evaluation.

Updates & Reconsideration of Test Scores:

  • Applicants may submit updated scores from subsequent test dates.
  • Applications may be reopened or reconsidered if test scores improve.
  • Denied or waitlisted applicants may be reconsidered upon submission of new scores.
  • All admissions decisions are final as of August 1, 2026.
  • No test scores will be reconsidered after August 1, 2026.

2. Prove eligibility

For automatic admission, applicants must be between 17 and 23 years old at the start of the academic year. They must not have completed a four-year undergraduate degree but may hold a two-year degree.

All applicants must submit one of the following:

  • A high school transcript showing progress toward or completion of a diploma.
  • An official GED certificate including the date of completion.

Official transcripts must be sent directly by the issuing institution (transcripts sent by students will not be accepted). Submit transcripts by the application deadline via:

  • Electronically: Parchment or Scoir
  • By mail to:
    University of Austin
    Attn: Office of Admissions
    522 Congress Ave, STE 300
    Austin, TX 78701

Home-schooled applicants must have their education administrator submit a transcript including:

  • Overall GPA
  • Course list with semester grades
  • Brief course descriptions
  • Record of any college coursework (if any)
  • Parent/administrator signature

Before enrolling, all admitted students must submit a final high school transcript or equivalent showing completion of a diploma.

Note: GPA is not a criterion for admission to the University of Austin.

3. Verify Your Integrity

The integrity check confirms, at the discretion of the Admission Committee, that each admitted student meets our high standards, including honesty, responsibility, and readiness.

  • Submit one recommendation letter from someone who knows you well and can attest to your integrity.
  • Disclose any disciplinary, criminal, or ethical issues in your history.
  • If we have concerns about your application, we may ask for an interview to verify information.
