Applicants will receive an admissions decision within 14 business days of UATX receiving both a completed application and a verified test score. (Note: It may take 5–10 business days after you submit your verified test score for UATX to receive it.)
The enrollment deposit deadline is May 1, 2026.
Limited full-tuition Founders Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to all deposited students who meet eligibility requirements. Apply early for the best chance at a scholarship.
The final deadline to apply for Fall 2026 enrollment is August 1, 2026.
Although most high school–aged applicants prefer to enroll in the fall, a limited number of exceptional students may be admitted at the start of D-Term, Winter Term, Spring Term, or J-Term, joining the freshman class already in progress. These students may be graduating high school early, leaving their current college, or returning from a gap semester or gap year.
Note: Because of the unique academic and community structure at UATX, mid-year starts require flexibility and careful planning. Students considering this option should reach out to admissions@uaustin.org to ensure careful coordination with admissions, advising, and the registrar for the smoothest entrance.
If I start mid-year, am I still considered a freshman?
Yes. Mid-year entrants are considered first-year students for all purposes of enrollment, advising, and financial aid.
Is there an orientation for mid-year entrants?
There is no dedicated mid-year orientation or convocation. However, mid-year entrants receive a short onboarding session upon arrival and are invited to participate in some of the orientation programs the following fall (optional but recommended).
Am I eligible for financial aid?
Yes. Mid-year entrants may apply for aid under the prevailing financial aid policies. Funding is limited, distributed on a first-come basis to deposited students, and may be prorated for partial-year enrollment.
Will starting mid-year affect my graduation timeline?
Some required courses (such as STEM labs, languages, or great books seminars) may only be offered once per year. Advisors and faculty will help mid-year entrants plan carefully to remain on track for on-time graduation.
What are D-Term and J-Term? How will joining different terms affect my onboarding process?
D-Term and J-Term are our intensive terms in which half or full classes are taught seminars that meet daily or multiple times a week.
To ensure smooth onboarding and eligibility for financial aid, the following deadlines apply (note: students are eligible to apply for financial aid before they make their deposit):
D-Term 2025 (December 1–12)
Winter Term 2026 (January 5–March 13)
Spring Term 2026 (March 30–June 5)
Spring Term 2026 (March 30–June 5)
Notes
All applicants must submit standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, or CLT). Applications may be submitted without scores, but they will not be considered complete until an official test score is received. Verified scores must come directly from the testing agency and should be sent immediately after submitting the application to ensure timely review.
If you scored SAT ≤ 1450, ACT ≤ 32, CLT ≤ 104, we encourage you to submit exceptional AP scores (4/5) or IB scores (5/6/7). If you are applying for Fall 2025 regular admission, list up to three verifiable achievements, each in a single sentence. No essays, extracurriculars, or GPAs are considered.
