
Timothy Brennan is Associate Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Austin. His research focuses on modern political theory and American political thought, with particular attention to eighteenth-century thinkers, including Montesquieu, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and Thomas Jefferson. He has published articles in Political Theory, The Journal of Politics, and Modern Intellectual History, among other venues, and he has a forthcoming book on Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography. Before coming to the University of Austin, he taught at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Virginia.
